Wells Fargo employees, a Venice City Council candidate, and residents spend the day labeling drains and saving a turtle

A group of concerned citizens and employees of Wells Fargo, along with City of Venice Council Member Candidate Debbie Sanacore, spent a large part of the table labeling street runoff drains within Venice.

Basically, they spent their Saturday morning labeling several drainage points, letting residents know that the street run off going into the drains is full of roundup, fertilizer, pesticides, animal feces, gas, oil and many other items flow unfiltered into the drains and out into the ICW and Gulf.   The labels that they are putting on the drains let residents know that the unfiltered runoff goes directly into the gulf via the outflow pipes that we see up and down the ICW and beaches.

While out there they were able to save a soft-shell turtle, pull waste from the surrounding drainage area and educate some residents about the runoff and how it flows into our water way, unfiltered.
