NOTE:
Discussion items scheduled in the afternoon may be moved to the morning at the discretion of the Board. This meeting may include items that were deferred from yesterday’s Board of County Commissioners meeting.

1.      OPEN TO THE PUBLIC – (Three-minute time limit per person.)
  This time is reserved for persons desiring to comment before the Board on items not scheduled for a Public Hearing. Persons wishing to speak at Open to the Public shall complete a Request to Speak card, including the number of the agenda item or, if not an agenda item, the topic to be addressed.

 

Comments on scheduled agenda items will be heard first, followed by up to 5 speakers related to topics not on the advertised agenda. Any remaining speaker cards will be held for the final Open to the Public at the end of the meeting.

2.     PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT SERVICES
  To appoint three individuals to serve four-year terms on the Planning Commission, effective through January 2024.

3.     OFFICE OF FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT
  Presentation of the Tourist Development Council Annual Report, incorporating the Fiscal Year 2019 annual reports of the Arts and Cultural Alliance of Sarasota County, Inc. and the Sarasota Convention and Visitors Bureau, Inc., dba Visit Sarasota County.

4.     PUBLIC WORKS
  Presentation of the Waterways Advisory Council Annual Report by Jonathan Harn, Chairman.

 

5.     PARKS, RECREATION AND NATURAL RESOURCES
A.     To accept a quitclaim deed and a bill of sale from Suncoast Aquatic Nature Center Associates, Inc. (SANCA) for certain improvements and property located within Nathan Benderson Park;
B.     To approve an updated and restated license and operating agreement with SANCA for Nathan Benderson Park.

6.     OFFICE OF FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT
  Presentation regarding available funding related to the Mote Marine Laboratory and Aquarium request.

THE SARASOTA COUNTY CHARTER REQUIRES THAT EVIDENCE AND TESTIMONY PRESENTED DURING PUBLIC HEARINGS SHALL BE UNDER OATH.  PERSONS PRESENTING EVIDENCE AND/OR TESTIMONY ARE REQUIRED TO COMPLETE AND SIGN THE REQUEST TO SPEAK CARD.

7.     SHERIFF
  (Public hearing) To adopt Ordinance No. 2019-056, repealing Ordinance No. 72-085, as set forth in Article II, Sections 78-51 through 78-77 of the County Code, relating to the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office Civil Service System.

8.     PUBLIC UTILITIES
  (Public hearing) To adopt a resolution adopting and ratifying charges under the County’s Project Green Sweep for the management of commercial waste.

PUBLIC HEARINGS – PRESENTATIONS SCHEDULED:

  (First public hearing) To consider Ordinance No. 2019-055, approving Unified Development Code Amendment No. 5 relating to occupied recreational vehicles in the Pinecraft Neighborhood Overlay District. (Second public hearing scheduled for February 25, 2020.)
