Original story

William Murphy was arrested for child abuse over the weekend, after a child was brought to Sarasota Memorial Hospital.

The pediatrician noted injuries that were consistent with child abuse.   It is hard to get specifics, since the Probable Cause Affidavit is heavily redacted.  Basically, the child had about 57 bruises all over the body.

The police talked to the parent and they were told that the child was left with William, while the she went to work.  When the parent returned home, she confronted William regarding the injuries to her 13-month-old and William denied injuring the child.

The investigation uncovered that William dropped and kicked the child, according to the child’s 5-year-old sibling.   The police arrested William and he continued to deny inflicting the injuries on the child.
