North Port Police are looking for a wanted individual that has fled on foot on S. Cranberry
Residents in the South Cranberry Blvd/Spice Lane area may notice a high police presence. A wanted individual has fled on foot. A perimeter has been established. We are not letting kids who walk or ride home alone from Cranberry Elementary school into the area, so please expect some delays. All other parent pick up and buses are as normal. If you live in the area please lock your doors and stay inside your residence until we give the all clear. Thank you.
Around 3pm Thursday afternoon NPPD located Robert Steven Harrelson (41) 5’5’ 170 on Spice Ln. The convicted felon is wanted on multiple felonies for drugs and weapons. Mr. Harrelson elected to take off on foot. A perimeter has been established in the area. He is currently still being looked for. Air one from the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office is being utilized along with our K9 Unit.
This incident impacted the dismissal of Cranberry Elementary School which is nearby. Parent pickup and the buses all left shortly after. We have kept students who walk or ride home alone away from the area. Buses from the high schools and middle schools were also not allowed to enter the area.
We’re asking residents in the area to please lock your doors and stay inside until we give the all clear. Harrelson was last seen wearing a grey shirt, blue jeans, red/white shoes.
NOTICE: There are slight delays in dismissal at Cranberry El due to nearby police activity.
Students that ride the bus or get picked up are now leaving school. Students who walk or ride bikes are being held on campus until we receive the "all clear" from @NorthPortPolice https://t.co/5Wl3AMKJUD
