City of Venice announces the candidates for the open City Council Member and Mayor seats
According to City Clerk Lori Stelzer, the following individuals have qualified to run for the City of Venice election:

The 2019 election will take place on Tuesday, Nov. 5 for City Council Seats 5, 6 and 7, which are currently held by Council Member Jeanette Gates, Council Member Bob Daniels and Mayor John Holic, respectively. Voting for these seats is open only to registered voters residing within Venice city limits. The last date that people will be able to register to vote in the Nov. 5 General Election is Monday, Oct. 7.
A term on City Council is for three years. Each Council member may serve three consecutive terms. City Council candidates must be residents who have been registered to vote in the City of Venice for 12 consecutive months prior to the first day of qualifying, Monday, Aug. 19. The deadline to file was Friday, Aug. 23 at noon.

Early voting will be at the Supervisor of Elections Office, Robert L. Anderson Administration Center, 4000 S. Tamiami Trail, Venice. The early voting schedule for the City of Venice election will begin on Monday, Oct. 28 and continue through Friday, Nov. 1 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily.
The last day to request a vote-by-mail ballot, which can be done by mail, phone, or online, is Saturday, Oct. 26 by 5 p.m.
On election day, you must vote in your precinct. For additional voter information, including a precinct finder and how to register, visit the Sarasota County Supervisor of Elections Office website.
Election offices are open 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. daily, Monday-Friday.
